Job #054 Casual Support WorkersThe Casual Support Worker is required to work 12 hour shifts (6am-6pm and 6pm-6am), with availability during the week and on weekends. The Casual Support Worker should be available for shifts on short notice, when requested, as well as scheduled shift coverage. RESPONSIBILITIES:

2. When working a shift where the Team Leader and/or Executive Director is not immediately available, the Support Worker will report to the designated On-Call Worker.
EVALUATION:
QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Concern for abused women and children. 2. Awareness of the issues surrounding violence against women. 3. Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity. 4. Ability to work cooperatively, independently and as part of a team. 5. Experience and a knowledge of the skills required for crisis intervention. 6. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to assist over the telephone and provide information to people in a crisis and emergency situations both on the telephone and in person. 7. Fluency in a Native Language would be a definite asset. 8. Experience/training/education or equivalent training and/or demonstrated skills or knowledge in the human/social services field would be an asset. 9. Experience as an advocate and in working with various agencies and businesses over the telephone. 10. Ability to work with minimum supervision. 11. Skills in the areas of problem solving, coordination of multiples activities, decision making, conflict resolution, delivering difficult messages, suicide intervention and parenting would be an asset.
